Hi there,
Thanks for your query.
Your son had apparently had repeated concussions of the brain. At times, effects of concussion last for a weeks or even months. Further, associated
contusion of scalp muscles leads to their going into spasm, which manifests as post-exercise
headaches. A 5-7 days' course of a combination of anti-inflammatory pain-killers and muscle relaxants will relieve muscle spasm.
YES. it can also be exercise-induced
migraine attacks, though less likely in your son's case. If he has headaches lasting for more than 4 hours, with associated nausea,
vomiting or sensitivity to light, then it could be exercise-induced migraines.
Lastly, sometimes, mild concussion of the brain may be associated with either, a minor
fracture of the skull bone; or, a mild bleeding (
subdural hemorrhage) which too would manifest as exercise induced headaches. A
CT Scan is therefore recommended to rule out/detect these possibilities.
