Had Discectomy Previously. Having Hip Pain, Lower Back Pain. Limping When Walking. Solution?

Okay, then, I will. I have already had a diskectomy at L5-S1 about 20 years ago. Now I'm having lower back pain and especially left hip pain and I am limping when I walk, using a cane when walking might be precarious such as out along our gravel driveway and across the highway to fetch the mail. At the time of my previous surgery, the docs said I had a degree of scoliosis (although that was the first I'd ever heard of it). Now, I am wondering if I need (a) an x-ray; (b) a chiropractor; (c) an orthopedist; (d) another back surgery; (e) my family physician, or (e) just a new mattress such as a Sleep Number mattress, since our mattress is indeed over 8 years old. I would like to hear your opinion. And thank you so much for being there.

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this back pain. My advice would be that you get consulted and evaluated for this back pain. depending on the findings, specific treatment and advice would be give to you. The same surgeon who did the last surgery would be a good person to start with. If there is need for another specialist visit, then he would orient you depending on the findings that he gets after your encounter.

For ow, your doctor should evaluate your pain medications and make sure that they control your pains while we investigate the cause and address it fully.
I hope this helps and I wish you well.
Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask more questions if need be.
