Had Minor Heart Attack, Had Femur Surgery, Diabetic, Vomiting, Has Heart Arrhythmias. On Dialysis. What Is The Cause?

my 72 yr old mom just had leg surgery (femur). She is diabetic and receives dialysis 3 times a wk. We were told she had a minor hear attack within the last 4 days prior to the surgery. The night before the surgery she had dialysis. Surgery occurred the next day at 5 P.M. After surgery & recovery , she began vomiting off and on. They put an IV on. The next morning they took IV off and gave her food, but she did not eat and began vomiting again. She has not eaten all day/night and is having heart arythmias. She has a fever of 100.4. They just put the IV back on her now (approx. 8:00 PM). What would cause the arythmias, the fever, and vomiting.

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Tissue injury (surgery) could cause fever / Infection is next..
Vomiting could be from renal failure / gastritis (from drugs?) / Inferior wall ischemia /
Arrhythmia could be from the heart attack, electrolyte disturbance, stress of surgery and so on

There are several factors involved in each aspect... At this age / with several issues involved, her doctors appear to be doing a great job indeed! The treating doctor alone can suggest further based on his assessment of the situation.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
