Had Raptured Bowel. Had A Colectomy. What Is The Cause?

Hi! My sister lives in Serbia and had a colectomy performed last sunday. She had a raptured bowel and 15 cm was cut out and she has a pouch now for a waste. The doctor said that they will reverse the procedure after everything heals, but he didn' say anything about what caused it. How long before this will be possible? Also, do you think she had a tumor involved? What kind of diet should she follow after this procedure? I am visiting her soon. Thank you. Irene.

The cause depends on her age and other positive clinical history. Apart from cancer there could be non cancer causes too. Further management depends on type of problem.
