Had Second Iron Infusion, Have Joint Pain, Feeling Feverish, Body Pain. How Long Do The Side Effects Last ?

I just had my second iron infusion. I was fine during the infusion then went home and had joint pain, particularly in the hand/ wrist of the arm I had the infusion in. Woke up next day with bad body pain, feeling flu like, a bit feverish, nd just generally icky. The next day was a bit better but I still felt crappy. My question is how long do the side effects generally last and am I going to have another reaction the next time I have an infusion? I am supposed to have two more. Will having another brand of iron infusion help?

Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Deficiency of iron develops anemia and other so many problems.
The drawback of iron infusion is the in few patients this develops arthritis type symptoms , one of them you are .
It depends upon the dose of infusion of iron preparation , if 2 ml then mild degree pain and swelling over various joints, if dose is 10 ml in intravenous infusion then it will remain for up to 72 hours .
Usually when I prescribe this injection i use normal saline for infusion .
Only paracetamol or ibuprofen provide some relief for sometime.
After 72 hours mild effect patient feels for 5- 7 days .
