Had Two Periods In A Month, Tender Breast, Now Periods Delayed. Possible Reason?
Dear Dr, allow me to give you some backgroud of what has happend to me this past 1.5 months: Week of 10 Jun-last period begins on 10 Jun. Week of 24 Jun-started bleeding - initially was brownish discharge for a few days which turns to bright red discharge. Late week of 1 Jul-bleeding decreases and gradually turns to brownish discharge. after describing my symptoms to my gynae, she said that it could be due to hormone imbalance from stress and common illness. Around 11 Jul-bleeding stopped. Week of 15 Jul-based on past records, I'm supposed to expect my period around this week. however, I have yet to have my period now. am experiencing tender breast, other than that, no other symptoms. also tested negative 2 days ago. May I know what are the possible reasons for my delayed period?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Swaroop N's Response
Hello Madam,
At the outset it looks like hormone imbalance. It might be due to your hectic work schedule, lot of travel especially by road or due to stress etc. It happens to many females in India. Since this has happened to you for the first time, there is no need to panic. Wait for sometime. In case if you still don't get back your periods please report to a Obstetrician. A pregnancy test, Ultrasound, few blood tests may be needed to arrive at a diagnosis. Before doing all this please wait for sometime. Take care!
Best regards Dr Swaroop
