Hair Started Thinning After Hair Transplant. Is It Due To Bad Transplant?

I am now almost 6 months post op from a relatively small hair transplant on the left side of my head. throughout the last six months my hair has shed greatly. While it is indeed much thinner on the left, where the recipient site was, it has thinned every where. I seem to be shedding perfectly healthy, thick hairs. While, before the transplant, I had a pretty decent head of hair, now it is noticeably thinning. I am concerned if this may be a form of telogen effluvium or just a bad transplant.

Hi,

I can understand your concern for hair thinning after hair transplant. Hair fall can be due to any long term illness or any emotional or stressful event and due to nutritional deficiency or hormonal influence.

I can make out that after stress and nutritional dysfunction it is quite common to get hair fall because of change of nutritional and hormonal status.

If I were your dermatologist then would have prescribed you tablet containing Acetylcysteine, Calcium Pantothenate, Selenium, Zinc, Biotin, Copper as active ingredients. You can take these vitamins in the form of biotin, calicium pantothenate and other vitamin B complexes.

Your treating doctor has done good treatment and you can follow the same. There is always hair fall after the transplant procedure so do not worry.

Take care.
