Hand Foot Mouth Virus For Child. Doctor Asked To Wait For Few Days And Not Given Any Medicine. Is There Any Medicine For Tongue?

My son will be 3 years old in December. He has the 'hand foot mouth' virus and has not been eating or drinking anything for a day now. He has not peed the entire day. Is there some gel that we can use on his tongue which will help reduce the pain and help him atleast take fluids if not solids (his doctor said that we have to wait this virus out and it should all be fine in 5-7 days - and has not given us any medication for his mouth)

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

If your son has not passed urine for nearly 24 hours then I suggest that he be hospitalized and intravenous fluids started so that dehydration is corrected. Regarding problem in the mouth you can apply Zytee drops which can give some relief to him.
