Hardened And Raised Existing Mole On Lower Left Leg That Is Painful

I recently discovered a change in an existing mole on my lower left leg, it has hardened and a little raised (although I am not sure if it was not a little raised before), it has a bit of redness around it, and it is painful to touch/ press. Where I live has very dry winter weathers, so I am not sure if this has something to do with it, as the rest of my leg is pretty dry and even a bit flakey despite my daily lotion application at night. I am really worried that this could be melanoma.
