Has Parkinson's Disease. Taking Madopar. Has Tiredness, Jerking And Twitching In Sleep. Advice?

My husband has Parkinsons Disease and been diagnosed for more than 5 years and is 57 years old The last few months he has been jerking and twitching in his sleep much more than usual He is on Madopar His tremour is in his left leg He has been increasingly very very tired Is this a normal progression of PD? We have another appt with his specialist in May

Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
No doubt the initiation of therapy is very effective and good with madopar ( levodopa) .
It have been noted that after 5 years of use this drug don't produce desired effects , so it is very necessary to change the medicine .
This time may be ergot alkaloids or non-ergot alkaloids depending upon the choice and skill of treating physician .
Complete physical examination by a physician will find out the nature of disease and dosage of drugs.
As far symptoms ( tremors ) this is not an indication of progress of disease as may be due to resistant of drug effect.
Let the physician decide what is good for your husband.
