Has Blood In Urine. No Pain. CT Showed Cyst In Spleen. RBC High. Gave Cipro. Recommendations?
I was in the ER with my 20 yr old last night. He had blood in his urine, but no sign of infection no pain in the back.Kidney function was fine. However, the CT showed a small cyst on his spleen, The ER doc said there was no worries and this had nothing to do with the blood in his urine. His RBC was too numerous to count. He sent me home with Cipro and told me to follow up with his primary Doc.
Hello Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your 20 years old son was admitted in Er for painless hematuria. His CT scan did not reveal any pathology in the kidney and he is put on antibiotics.
In absence of any gross lesion in kidney it looks likely to be due to UTI however you get it confirmed by doing urine culture. If this problem does not get cured within a week after taking antibiotics you have to consult qualified Urologist and Nephrologist for detail clinical assessment and further investigations to find out the cause of hematuria.
