Has Esophageal Reflux Disease And Hiatal Hernia, Vomiting. What Treatment Will Help?
My son has esophogeal (sp) reflux disease and well as a hiatal hernia. (Due to his job, he eats at odd hours and has been doing so for the past five years. The reflux causes vomiting.) His gastroenterologist said that he needs surgery on the hernia. Can you tell me the healing process? I understand the surgery takes about 45 minutes. He is not over weight, but he does smoke (not heavily, but he does). He is 29 years of age.
Hi, Thanks for contacting HCM as your son is 29 year old and have esophageal reflux disease and hiatal hernia, vomiting since five year. these all finding suggests that better to go surgery and healing process is normal , it requires bed rest not more than 10 days.
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. As surgery is the last option. Why, not get a conservative treatment ( drugs). Rebamipide 100 mg two tablets three times a day for 3-6 months . Blend diet and timely meals . Tension free life may improve his condition. Good luck. Dr. HET
