Have Parathyroid Cancer, Kidney Issues, Cyst On Left Kidney, Depressed. Go For Radio Therapy?

I have Parathyroid cancer. It was removed a few years ago but due to the cancer I have kidney problems. So far I have had six operations to blast kidney stones and one for the draining of a cyst on my left kidney. I get my bloods checked every six months, have had lots of CT scans etc. My friends don't believe I have had cancer because I never got Chemo or Radio therapy this has made me depressed. My endocrinologist told me on Monday that he needs to keep seeing me and testing I need support to get through this even a counsellor has not helped please can you give me more information. Do my children and siblings need checked?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Parathyroid cancer is rare but can , in some persons, be associated with a high rate of survival.
It is unfortunate that your friends do not believe the diagnosis but if they are able to research the condition they would find out that those options are not used widely in this type of tumor.
The main aspects of treatment are surgical removal and management of calcium levels.
The high levels of calcium can cause significant problems and for this reason the endocrinologist would monitor these levels as well as check for recurrence.

Your children and other family members do not need to be assessed.

I hope this helps
