Have RA, Nodules On Elbows, Hands Turning, Their Joints Are Permanently Very Enlarged.

I have RA..for about 15 years now. I have developed nodules on my elbows and small nodules, I think, have appeared on my forearm . Is this possible? One is near my wrist and the other 2 are on the outside of my forearm. My hands are turning and their joints are permanently very enlarged. I thought that nodules were usually on the joints most affected by RA. Thank you for your help Eileen

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello

I have studied your case,
Yes rheumatoid nodule can involve areas other than joint they can involve bursa too.
They will not affect your body function,if you wish you may remove them surgically also.
You need to take anti rheumatoid medication to avoid deformity of joints.
Take calcium and vit D as osteoporosis is common in RA.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.
Take care
