my daughter is taking metroprolol her herat rate has been going crazy beating vey fast and fells like she will faint, tired and out of breath her blood pressure high. The heart rate slows down when she lays down and does not move. As soon as she moves the heart rate goes up. Now with the metropolol it is somewhat better but to high a dose at 400mg a day. She has been adjusting it and lowering the dose but bp is higher so she went back on the lisinopril 10mg too help lower blood pressure, now she is with diarrhea and vomited 10min after taking the pill. she is also diabeted and has GERD..Should she take the pill again.

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

There is an old expression, “Post hoc ergo propter hoc”, meaning ‘after this, therefore because of this’ / It is natural human tendency to associate things with the immediate past - which is always not true... / Symptoms immediately after a tablet (lisinopril) may not be from it. / Lisinopril is an ACEI (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitor) and is good in Diabetics – you may give a chance again to make sure...

There are several classes of drugs and several drugs in each class – for bot the pressure and rate. If the rate is bothering to the extent of interfering with life style, she may need Electro Physiological Studies (EPS) > it resembles angio – a catheter is put inside the heart / electrical activity recorded / stimulation and suppression tests are carried out / suitable medicine tested and so on. Though the test is the gold standard, it is INVASIVE and is not generally done unless there are compelling indications. This super-speciality expert is called ELECTRO-PHYSIOLOGIST. The treating doctor may suggest them depending on need, based on his assessment of the situation. There are other advanced treatment modalities - like ablation (thermal or radio-frequency), which could be done during EPS.
Discuss with your doctor...

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
