Have Actinomyces Of Breast. Taking Doxycycline. Have Breast Pain, Swollen Axillary Nodes, Weight Loss, Tiredness, Chest Pain

42 year old female i have Actinomycotic ( Actinomyces) Of the Breast (Very Rare) . my ID Doctor put me on Doxycycline 100mg 2 times a day. i have been hurting in my breast for 8 weeks now and my axillary nodes are swollen. it just dont seem to be getting any better i have lost 8 pounds in a month, very tired also now the pain is my upper center spine and my chest is aching more like i have the flu. I should be getting better not worse

Dear Ma'am,

Very sorry to hear about your problem. Actinomycosis of the breast is indeed rare and it can be sometimes confused with tuberculosis of the breast as well. The treatment for actinomycosis is long drawn and it requires a long time for the drugs to show effect. You should consult your doctor and make sure that tuberculosis has been ruled out.
