Have Bleeding Along With Spotting. Was Taking Triphasil And On Petogen. What To Do?

Hello, I am twenty-three years old and had been on triphasil for over a year and switched to petogen due to not wanting to take a pill everyday for the next five years. I started petogen two months ago, spotted for two or three days the one month and now I am bleeding for almost ten days straight with some days being heavy bleeding and others light and changes in colour. PLEASE HELP! They said to caution for ten days bleeding and see a clinician, what could be wrong?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Hormonal contraceptive measures can have irregular bleeding as a side effect. Usually this will subside soon. But as you are having the bleeding continuously for 10 days, better to consult the doctor once and take tablets to stop the bleeding.
After that you wait and watch for few more months, possibly your symptoms will subside and you can continue with petogen.
For more details you can ask me through: http://www.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-sree-gouri-sr/63429.
Take care.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
