Hi
Thanks for your query
From the description that you gives, it looks like you are developing recurrent episodes of herpetic infection.
Herpes can present in any localized areas of the body presenting with recurrent development of
Fluid filled blisters which are grouped and remain confined to the same area every time they appear.
Such lesions tend to recur and there can occasionally be upto 6 or more recurrences in a year.
Now the most important thing is to understand that it is a viral infection and is contagious. So you need to treat this infection whenever it appears. In between the infection, the virus goes and resides in a latent state in a
ganglion and any kind of precipitating factors in the form of fever, stress, trauma, and surgery, excess sun exposure can lead to recurrences.
Now regarding treatment, you need a course of oral antivirals like
acyclovir every time you get a recurrence. This is helpful in two ways. One, it decreases the severity of the attack and secondly, it decreases the chances of recurrence.
Along with it, you need to clean the area twice a day and apply a
topical antibiotic cream like
mupirocin over the affected area to prevent any
superinfection. You should totally avoid using any kind of topical steroids over the affected area. Please do not apply
betnovate, as it will increase the lesions and they will take longer time to heal.
Hope it helps
