Hello and welcome to HCM.
Thank you for your query.
All your symptoms indeed match that of a sexually transmitted infection, but which infection it is, will have to be confirmed only with a physical examination, along with a laboratory examination of your vaginal smear.
The conditions that could be possible are: a fungal or yeast infection,
bacterial vaginosis or even
trichomoniasis (although this presents with a greenish or yellowish discharge more commonly, at times a white discharge is also seen).
Over the counter medication might not help unless you are taking appropriate medication for the infection you have. Which is why, you will have to visit a doctor to get a physical examination and laboratory examination of your
vaginal discharge, or at the least a urine examination.
It is also of prime importance that you refrain/abstain from sexual contact for at least 7 days after completion of the course of treatment, and also, as your symptoms were aggravated after sexual contact, I would recommend your sexual partner to get tested for sexually transmitted infections as well.
As you have mentioned that you cannot visit the health department for 9 days, for various reasons, I would advise you to continue with the OTC
anti-fungal medication, or even better replace it with
ointments which have anti-fungal + anti-bacterial + anti-inflammatory properties, this would be more effective and has a wider range of ingredients to tackle various infections.
I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications at: http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-shoaib-khan/64581 . I would gladly help you.
