Have Dry And Itchy Mons Pubis. Have't Been Sexually Active For A Lon Time. What Could Be The Reason?

Hi, I currently do not have any sexual partners (I haven't had one since mid-July), and I have had my yearly OBGYN appointment a few months ago and everything was fine. I have realized that my mons pubis has been very itchy lately and dry. It's very comfortable, and I don't know what could account for this? Please Help!

Hello and welcome to HCM.

Thank you for your query.

An itchy mons pubis is usually the sign of either an infection or in women who have had some treatment for the pubic hair or even shaved the region.

Considering the former, this could be a sign of infections like a urinary tract infection, sexually transmitted infections (that were previously asymptomatic), etc. This will be associated with other symptoms like burning while urinating, discharge, lower abdominal pain, etc. I advise you to visit a doctor for an elaborate evaluation and diagnosis if these symptoms continue or in case new ones occur.

If it is the latter, you have to just wait for the hair to grow back, which usually results in complete subsiding of the irritation.

I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would gladly help you.

Best wishes.
