Have Fever, Arthritis And Bleeding. Going To Take TKR. Is This Normal During Few Weeks Of Surgery?

Hello Dr,
I have pressured my dad to go through the TKR as he was suffering from arthritis (the collagen weared off and the bones almost started bending outwards). The surgery was done on both the legs in a gap of 1day between. Now my dads experiencing fever of around 100 degrees celsius and also that bloods oozing our to the place where opened skin was closed. Am a bit concerned now. Is this normal during the first few weeks of surgery. My dad is 56yrs old.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The mild raised body temperature is often reactionary fever in response to the surgery. The bleeding from the site of surgery needs to be examined directly to find out the cause and proper measures need to be taken to stop the bleeding.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. You can consult me again directly through my profile URL http://bit.ly/Dr-Praveen-Tayal
