Have Fibromyalgia. Doctors Stopped Painkillers. What To Do?
Hello, I have fibromyalgia very badly. I was just told today that I will not be treated with pain killers any more. Never abused. I have been through 16 other meds and have no tolerance. The only thing that allowed me to live a normal 50 hour a week work life has just been taken away. I am very upset and have no where to turn. Help please.
hello, Thank you for consulting HCM.In the cases of fibromyalgia usage of opioids is restricted as the after effects of long term usage of them are more and you may also get serious side effects like heart failure and stroke with simple ibuprofen a painkiller. You need to try psychological therapies like cognitive behavioural therapy.Antidepressants and anti epillecptics are also the drugs used in fibromyalgia. So not only medication can decrease your pain but in a combination of patient education, aerobic exercises and cognitive behavioural therapy along with them will help you the alleviating the pain.Thank you.
