Have Gained 10 Pounds In 6 Months. Drinks Alcohol Daily. How To Avoid This?

I like to have a glass of wine while making dinner. Supposedly it is good for my health and I just plain like to sip wine while I cook. After dinner is done, I am done drinking. If a friend comes over, it usually turns into sharing a bottle. I find, however, that I retain water and, for a lack of a better term, bloat and gain weight. I am almost positive that it is the alcohol that is causing my 10 pound weight gain over the last 6 months. Can this be avoided? Or is the only solution to avoid the nightly glass? My clothes are not fitting properly and I am unwilling to buy a new wardrobe. :)

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
From your history it seems that you do not have any control on liqueur.
You take both wine and liqueur quite good amount.
This will definitely increase your weight.
Stop taking liqueur or cut down markedly.
Go for regular exercise.
Avoid sedentary life.
Ok and bye.

Hello,
You gain weight  When you consume more calories than what your body needs
Alcohol  can lead to weight gain from the calories it provides and by causing you to eat more calories after consuming the alcohol. So Obviously, if you sip few glasses of wine before a meal, you'll have taken in a significant number of calories before you even start to eat. If you do this on a consistent basis, you can see how the calories can add up.
Another reason could be hypothyroidism
Get yourself checked up for hypothyroidism and quit taking alcohol,if you want to loose weight.Do regular exercises.
You should be all right in few months.
Thanks
