Have Gas And Bloating In Stomach. Feeling Nauseous, And Pain In Abdomen. Taking Flagyl And Ciproxin

Hi ... I'm male, 50, architect, busy & normally under tremendous stress. There is generally a feeling of gas / bloating in the stomach and I have to take antacids in the night for comfort. I have had frequent bouts of upset stomach over the past few months. Since the last three days I've had loose sandy stools around 6 times a day with a feeling of nausea / discomfort / pain in the abdomen but no vomiting so far. I was taking Flagyl 400 mg twice a day and added Ciproxin 500 mg this morning. I have been taking ORS after every stool movement. Is the medication appropriate and your comments on what's going on ?

Hello,

You may be having an episode of AGE(Acute Gastroenteritis).
This is infection of the GI tract due to bacteria or virus.

The medicine is appropriate for bacterial Gastroenteritis.

But metronidazole may cause irritation of the GI tract which may worsen your pre existing Gastritis(Stomach upset).
