am female. very itchy genitals for about 18 months. gp gave steroids . did not help. massive family history of diabetes (maternal grandmother, father, 10 aunts and uncles, cousins and my brother). also have just developed very weird metallic taste in mouth. Don't want to go to gp with very little symptoms. any idea????? Any ideas?????
Hi, Thanks for using Healthcaremagic, You was having genital itching for long duration 18 months, treatment depends on cause. You was given steroids yes they can cause taste change that is metallic, but to stop steroid we need to taper the steroid do not stop it suddenly. Your family history of diabetes so keep an eye on blood sugar level. Usually once steroids are withdrawn taste returns to normal. It may take some time after complete stopage of steroids. Keep good oral hygiene and discuss with your doctor. Take care. Good Luck. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
Very itchy genital for 18 months and had taken steroids with massive family history of DM. you can taper the dose of steroid and stop it. Get one genital secretion swab done, Take Tab.Levocetrizine, cotrimoxazole cream local application, clean and keep dry of your genital area, can use talcum powder and wash your undergarments regularly with warm water. After swab if any treatment required we can put accordingly. Get done FBS and PPBS once as it is more common in diabetes. If not cured and any abnormal investigation reports then feel free to ask me or consult your doctor for examination and management. Hope I answered your question. Wish you good health. Take care.
Regards Dr. Lohit
