Have Light Period, Bad Cramps, Abdominal And Pelvic Area Pain. Have Had IUD, Mirena. Is It Appendix Or Ovarian Problem?
I'm 27 year-old female, 5.4 approx 145lbs. I've had an IUD, Mirana, for the past 3 years. I generally only have light periods and have never had bad cramps. For the past week I have been spotting for about 8 days, normal for me is 3-4. However my main concern is the intermittent pain in my lower right abdomen/pelvic area. Can't determine if it's origin is my ovary or appendix. Pain only lessons when I lay on my back, but is still there and is worse if I push on my lower right abdomen. Had the chills earlier today, feel week, and bloated.
Hi, In the current scenario, I would ask you to undergo a physical examination along with a pelvic/trans-vaginal sonogram. The location of the IUD should be noted and observations made for the possibility of any displacement. The cause of the pain could be either tubo-ovarian or else. A urinalysis and blood counts are also recommended as is the exclusion of pregnancy. Similar symptoms can be presented with pelvic inflammation caused by either PID or appendicitis. Hope your query is clarified. Wish you speedy recovery.
