Have Low White Cell, Hair Loss. Have Inactive TB. Stress, Fatigue, Anxiety, Insomnia. Common In Perimenopause?
I just found out I have low white cell 2.9 count. my routine blood tests are normal. this test was ordered by a dermatologist in relation to a hair loss issue (perimenopause) related. My primary care doctor is not yet aware of it. she also does not know that I have inactive TB, which I have had an xrays taken of my lungs for a couple of years ago and they were clear. I'm wondering if the TB virus may have anything to do with this. I also have HPV occasional flare-ups. So I have viruses in my body. My main health concern is stress and fatigue and anxiety and insomnia. The doctor says it's common in perimenopuse to have these symptoms. I have not been tested for HIV in a long time and now I'm frightened. My mom died of breast cancer. I don't have any bone marrow issues in my family history. I know more testing needs to be done and it may just be malnutrition. I'm 52. Is it dangerous? What can I expect?
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The decrease in the white cell count that you are having is not related top the inactive TB. A bone marrow suppression is likely due to chemicals or an infection. Proper biopsy will help. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Praveen Tayal , drtayal72@gmail.com
