Have Mood Swings, Weight Gain, Prolonged Periods, Clots. Implant Ring Recommended?
I am 44. After having my second baby a 42...I think I am in perimenopause. Mood swings , weight gain and terrible, long periods...passing clots and bleeding thru a super plus tampon on days 4, 5 in only a half hour. I work out and eat right so that is why i think it is my hormones. in the past when I was on birth control I tried loestrogen pills and got migraines and lots of yeast infections. Yaz was great for weight loss but had bad headaches also. Wild you recommend that implant ring..don't know what is called. But would I be a good canoadt for that or do people with my history also get bad headaches from that?
Hi, As you could not tolerate combination pills, you may not try them again. I would suggest use of progesterone only pills but before proceeding with any hormonal treatment, you should consult a gynecologist, get a complete check up, trans-vaginal sonogram to exclude local causes of the bleeding and a complete hormonal profile to see if you are into peri-menopause and the need of replacement. Your thyroid profile also should be checked. You can try the implant as you are a good candidate for its use. Hope your query has been answered. Take care.
