Have Myelofibrosis. Has Belly Drain In Stomach And Lung. Normal?
My mother is 73 and has Myelofibrosis. She was diagnosed approx 16 mo ago and told life expt of 2yrs. She has had a perminant belly drain that has been removed due to the drain clogging. Her left lung now has a perminant drain & there is talk of another drain for her other lung. As you can understand,I don't alwasys get the answers to my questions from her. There isn't much information about this disorder and just woundering about all the fluid loss with draining. I just want to know if possible, Is she deminishing faster than expected or is all the fluid draining normal?
If the bad fluid draining is undertaken in a hospital the fluid balance in body is checked periodically clinically and substitutions are done monitoring serum proteins, NA K levels along with bicarbonate etc levels. If it is being treated in a hospital this must be taken care off so you needn't worry on your own. Anxiety is natural and probably if you talk it over with the treating physician shall allay your fears and anxiety
