Have Narrowed Exterior Iliac Vein, Suggested Angioplasty. Also Have Trapease Filter In Vena Cava. Any Risk?
My doctor just advised that I have a "significantly narrowed exterior iliac vein on left side. They want me to consider angioplasty. What are the risks of this condition and am I in imminent danger? I also have a TrapEase filter in my Inferoir vena cava. It is intended to be a permanent filter, however, they advised that they have had success in removing the filter. It was inserted over 6 years ago. What are the risks of attempting to remove this filter? Over the past several months I have gained a lot of weight; over 40 pounds; weight gain is a bit unusual for me and I've never gained a fraction of this weight in the past. Could this be causing my weight gain?
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. A significant narrowing of the left external iliac vein can cause considerable muscle pain and other symptoms if left untreated. Your doctor is right in pointing out that it needs a surgical correction. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Praveen Tayal , drtayal72@gmail.com
