Have Occasional Stomach Pain, Bloating, Abdomen Hurts

I have occasional stomach pain....every couple of weeks or so. Typically, it begins in the morning.....I can tell it'll be one of those days. The bloating increases - pain sometimes keeps me from standing straight. No nausea. Also, I should mention that even when I am not in the middle of one of these episodes.....i have trouble laying on my left side. My abdomen will often start hurting and then I feel comfortable when I roll onto my back or other side. Ideas?
My abdomen feels tender in various places when I lay on my back and apply pressure trying to pinpoint a problem area. The tenderness with pressure is anytime I check - not just when i am hurting. When I am hurting - I don't even want to test it.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

It is really hard to diagnose your problem not being able to perform physical examination. Generally abdominal pain is very non specific symptom and can indicate many issues.
The reason can be chronic intestinal infection (bloating, constipation, diarrhea), peptic ulcer (upper middle pain, appears after a meal), gallstones and pancreas inflammation (middle or right upper pain radiating to the back), urinary tract infection (back pain, lower pain, frequent urinating, burning while urinating), diverticulitis (lower left abdominal pain, chronic constipation) and even colon cancer (weight loss, constipation and diarrhea alternately, blood in stool).

If you are older than 50, please start your diagnostic with colonoscopy, abdominal ultrasound and blood work.
If you are younger than 50, stool test, abdominal ultrasound and blood work should be done at first.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
