Have Pain In Knee. Was Suggested Cartilage 'wear And Tear'. Pain Has Got Worse. Chances Of Arthritis?

i am quite active but 6 weeks ago my knee 'clicked' and i've been in pain ever since, i've not done any exercises for 6 weeks, but kept doing gentle walking, i saw a doctor who said it was cartilage 'wear and tear' and advised me to do muscle strenthening excercises to support the knee, 2 days ago i did some stretching and the pain has got worse. i've seen a doctor yesterday and she thinks its a mild form of arthritis but hasn't sent me for a scan/xray as she doesn't think its necessary... is there anything else i can do to find out if it is arthritis?

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The pain that you are having in the knee is likely to be related to the wear and tear of the knee joint and a reduction in the knee joint lubricants. This is initial stage of arthritis. Adequate treatment delays the degenerative changes.
