hi doctor,
my father is 85 yrs old , bedridden due to paralasis,is diabetic,have foley's catheter,is on levofloxacin tablets 250 mg bd everyday for last 3 months; due to difficulty n passing urine due to lot of pus cells,also a patient of prostate enlargement,and keeps talking to himself continually without himself knowing about it , kindly help us.

Hi thanks for your question.
Your 85 year old father is bedridden with multiple problems and is on foley's catheter. He is on tablet levofloxicin 250 mg for last 3 months. I would suggest you following measures for your father:
Get his catheter changed every 3 months. This will decrease his chances of getting urinary tract infection.
Get his antibiotic changed from his treating physician and use on antibiotic only for a week or so and use antibiotic only when there is urinary tract infection,
He is talking to himself which means he has developed hallucination or psychosis. Examination by a physician is important in this regard, who may prescribe him drugs depending upon cause.
Enlarged prostate can be managed by drugs, which his physician should prescribe for him
