Have Problems With The Knee. Had A Torn Acl. Did Arthroscopy S To Trim The Meniscus. Swollen Knee. Treatment?

hi,
ive been having problems with my left knee for over 10 years.im now 32 and as a 17 yr old i was promising rugby player untill i suffered a torn acl. this was repaired with success however i suffered further injuries to the same knee which has required 2 arthroscopy's to trim the meniscus.
for the last couple of years my knee has become worse and ice packs have become a regular routine for me. imy knee will swell and often give way with a sharp, deep pain on the inside of my knee, this pain and giving way can/has happened in a variety of situations and i even get the sharp pain when at rest.
just 2 weeks ago i underwent another arthroscopy and my knee feels even worse!! i still have the exact same pain as before but feel non the wiser as to what happens next. my gp is next to useless and my consulatant wont see me for 3 months but there is no way i can work!! ive alredy changed career from a builder to bar manager in a bid to lighten the wear and tear but standing/walking behind a bar for 8 hours is now a real struggle and not helping me get any better. my post reports states there are degenerative changes in my knee as well as a problem with my knee cap and a torn medial meniscus ( cant quite read the surgeons hand writing) i did not see the consultant after surgery and have no idea what condition my knee is in or what might happen in terms of treatment

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
After a surgical treatment for torn meniscus, it takes at least 6 weeks for the knee to regain its normal activity and range of movement. You need to have anti inflammatory medicines and regular physiotherapy for improvement.
