Have Reduced Fetal Movement At 24 Weeks And Painful Back, Have Risk Of Preeclampsia. Is This Normal?

Hi,

I am currently just over 24 weeks into my 5th pregnancy. I have one child who is 6 years old. I am at risk of developing preeclampsia and have been having OB appts every 2 weeks.

Today I have noticed that the baby is less active than she usually is and I have to really concentrate to feel any movement at all (one - four kicks per hour). My back is also hurting more than it has been and I have a pin point pain above my old C section scar (where a cyst on my right ovary would be). I do have a history of ovarian cysts. My blood pressure has been in the 130s/80s today but I haven't had any high spikes. My pulse has been around 115 most of the day.

Is this normal? We are a bit iced in until the plows can clear the road so going into the doctor tomorrow would be very difficult.

HI,
Over all history you have needs a careful approach to your complaints.
- 24 weeks is just the end of 2nd trimaster, & fetal movements are not very obvious/need to be observed to note them. Of course in 5th pregnancy, one gets used to the feeling.
- Still, one kick /hour is normal ( Normal range being 12-15 movements in 12 hours.)
- Back ache if associated with uterine contraction/excessive vaginal discharge/ decreased fetal heart sounds-it is a symptom of concern & needs consultation of your treating doctor soon.
I would advice you to consult a GP for checking fetal heart sounds normal heart sounds of fetus will boost up your moral. blood pressure & pulse rate is within normal limits.
Take rest, continue the treatment advised.A uterine relaxant may be added as per advice of GP.I feel you can wait safely for a couple of days, till the roads are clear.
Thank you.
