Have Severe Pain In The Hip When Walking Also

I am experiencing hip pain. It began as a sharp spasm like pain when I was laying down to sleep and moving the right leg to position it for sleep about 3 days ago. I have had this condition since. I have used cold pack and a heating pad that give temporary relief, Ifropropin gives temporary relief. Now, I have pain when I walk. I can sit and stand but when I lay down and extend the leg a sharp pain occurs. I am 66 and am active. I returned from a weekend of down hill skiing with no symptioms and began having the pain a day later.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
I have studied your case and come to conclusion that your pain is most probably due to nerve compression. My recommendation is to get an MRI of the spine to see which level is having pressure. If MRI confirm the diagnosis than my suggestion is to start Gabapentin, and keep your leg bend when you are sleeping. Physiotherapy will also help you. Remmeber that sometime when these measures are not working surgery may be needed.
