Have Sharp Pain Under Rib Cage Area. What Does It Indicate?

Hello, Since 2 I have been feeling a sharp needle pain under my left rib cage area (right underneath where the ribcage ends) The pain starts and lasts for a second, then two seconds later it comes back for exactly 7 seconds and stops. That same cycle happens every 2-5 minutes and has been that way since 2. (after I ate some chocolate icecream) Any ideas on what this could be?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The pain under the left rib cage can be due to disease process involving the pleura, musculoskeletal pain, splenic flexure of colon, or involvement of the spleen.
Depending on the character of pain which is sharp, recurrent, pain after eating something, suggests pleural nature of the pain.
Pleural pain can be due to infection, inflammation, pleurisy, pleural effusion, etc.
You need to consult a physician for clinical examination, relevant investigations (X-ray, CT chest if required) and management.

Thanks and take care
