Have Some Sharp Painds In My Right, Center, Rib Cage Bone. Bruised Rib Cage. What Dose It Indicate?

I am a 15 year old girl.
I also am 5 feet 8.5 inches tall.
Recently, I have had some very very sharp painds in my right, center, rib cage bone.. like a tree branch snapping pain.. I have done some pain killers, and restedm even ice. but the pain keeps worsening and the swelling is continuing on... I was doing my room the other day when my dresser fell ontop of where my injury is located. I cried for a bit. I thought it would not need any help. Anyways,I have done the things that some doctors have told me to do. I have had a bruised rib cage before, but the pain wasnt as bad as this... there is a bit of marking in the injuries area... anything i do, it starts to hurt and feel like im getting stabbed there... Any advice on what I should do about it?

Hello,
Welcome at HCM.

I have read details of your question.Your age is fifteen so i will advice you to use my advice with help of your parents.
Your details show that most probably you have injured your rib cage area. The possibility of having a fracture at rib cage looks to be remote but should be ruled out by having x ray (if your pain is too severe & it hurts with respiration).

At present you should do warm water fomentation at affected area.

Take a mild analgesic with consent & prescription from your doctor.

Have a x ray of affected part.

Hope this all will help you.

With best wishes.
