Have Swollen Breasts, Nipple Discharge, Headache And Shaking. Taking Invega. Related?
Hi, I just started taking Invega, and I am 15 years old. I have noticed my breasts have swollen, i have nipple discharge, severe headaches, and i shake a lot. Can you tell me if this is serious or may be a side effect of he medicine. The label says it can cause high blood sugar and my Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother both have diabetes. Should i Be worried?
Hi, Paliperidone (Invega), causes side effects of hyperprolactinemia and extra pyramidal symptoms. The shaking or tremulousness are extra pyramidal symptoms that you are experiencing. They can be controlled by medication, i.e anticholinergic agents like trihexyphenidyl etc. Hyperprolactinemia or increased prolactin levels which is a side effect of the drug is causing swelling of breasts and discharge. This may be dealt with by reducing the dose or switching to another drug. Consult your doctor about it. Hope this helps, Dr Anjana rao
