Have Swollen Legs, Hardness Above Ankle. Got Downs Syndrome. Right Medication?
my son is 18 years old with downs syndrome. I have taken him to primary physician, and his heat doctor yet his left leg is swollen seems all up his thigh. it is darker from just below his calf to ankle then outer portion of foot. there is a hardness above ankle but just below calf, doesnt go all the way to ankle. at one time I think it was causing him discomfort but now he says nothing and that it doesn t hurt. He walks fine, runs etc with no obvious pain or limping. The cardiologist says no DVT heart fine, What should I do now, especially since the swelling is persistent?
I am so sorry to hear about this swelling that your child has. Because he has been evaluated and cleared of any potential acute life threatening condition, i will suggest that we monitor the swelling and see what the progress would be over time. It may just be the perfect thing to gather more information and probably make a more definitive diagnosis that may be otherwise not very evident right now.
