Having Pain While Walking On Thread Mill. MRI Showed Bulging Discs In Lower Back. Should I See A Doctor?
Four years ago while walking on my treadmill, my left leg gave out and I was in excrutiating pain for months until I went to a chiropractor. My MRI showed a couple bulging discs in the lower back along with arthritis in the mid spine with mild stinosis. Yesterday while walking outside, my left leg gave out again. When that happens, I get a sharp stabbing pain in the upper thigh by the joint area. What kind of doctor should I see to diagnose the problem?
You need to consult either an orthopedic surgeon or a spine surgeon for proper management of your disc disease.
The conservative management of the disc problem is as follows -
* Use a lumbosacral back support to augment your spinal muscles * avoid forward bending activities as it will worsen the disc protrusion * Maintain optimum body weight,if you are obese * use analgesics and muscle relaxants as needed * avoid lifting heavy weights * Physiotherapy to strengthen your back muscles
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
