Head Injury, Bump On Head, Headache, Dizziness, Nausea, Vomiting. What Is Wrong?

I am a competitive cheerleader and this past Sunday I was hit on my head by a girl who fell out of her stunt. I had noticed a large bump on my head but decided to ignore it and continue practicing. When my practice was over my dad picked my up and on the way home I got a severe headache followed by dizziness and nausea . Since then I have noticed that I can not focus well, I get more and more severe headaches , I continue to get dizzy spells and nausea, and I have started occasionally throwing up. I haven t gone to see a doctor. Do you have any idea what s wrong with me?

Hi Zizzy,
Thanks for you query.
The symptoms you have mentioned suggest that you had concussion due to the head injury.
There is no structural damage in the brain , only some biochemical changes occur which result in development of any of the following symptoms:-
1. Episode of loss of consciossness
2. Nausea/vomiting
3. Dizziness
4. Seeing flashing lights
5. Persistent headache
6. Difficulty in balancing the body
7. Episode of seizure
8. Irritability or confusion.
But don't worry. It can be healed by complete rest- both physical and cognitive- no television, no text messaging, etc
It is advisable that get your head scanned and consult a Neurophysican.
I hope I am able to answer your query. I you have furthur doubts, please let me know.
Thanks.

hello
thanks for choosing healthcaremagic

You have had a head injury , in suggest you go see a neurosurgeon at the earliest .

You will require a CT scan to rule out any intra cranial pathology .

Also look out for the following signs

1. seizures
2. weakness or paralysis of any of the limbs
3. dizziness
4. blurring of vision
5. severe headache
6. vomiting

these are suggestive of intra cranial pathology
