Headache, Seasonal Allergy. Having Mitral Valve Prolapse. Cause Of Headache?
Hi, I am a 53 y/o female. I have seasonal allergies and was once diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse. I exercise regularly but don't eat at regular times due to my schedule. Since Wed. afternoon I have been having a headache that is on the left side of my head near my ear. It is a shooting pain that comes and goes. The only thing that has changed in my life is that I was on a jury panel Mon & Tues and we convicted the defendant. That means I sat for a long period of time and had increased stress. I would like to know why you think I am having these headaches when I rarely ever get a headache.
It is likely that you are suffering from a tension-type headache which is a form of primary headache (headaches without any cause) but they usually have triggering factors such as stress. Another form is secondary headache which is caused by an underlying factor. Most doctors always prefer to rule out secondary headache by trying to identify the most common cause of these headaches such as infection, heart diseases, hypertension etc. There are effective medications that can help get rid of your headache if this is a primary headache but if secondary, then the cause must be treated. You may take medications such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen etc to help get rid of your headache.
Hope this helps and wish you the best
