Heard Popping In Foot On Jump From A Distance, Have Swelling And Trouble Walking Since. Bruising Or Sprain?

Is my foot sprained? I jumped off a 6ft wall and when I landed I heard my toes pop on my right foot. It didn t hurt that bad until I got home and layed down. Now it hurts to walk and It s a little swollen but I can move my toes. It s just the top of my foot right under my toes hurts to touch. It s not broken. Could it be bruised or sprained?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for posting your query.

From description it seems to be soft tissue injury or ligament injury.

You need an x-ray to rule out any bony injury.

I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.

Beside icing and elevating it, you can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid putting weight and rest well.

Wishing you good health
Regards.
