Heart Burn After Taking Augmentin For Ear Infection. What To Do?
Hello doctor! I have a very weird feeling like a heart burn accompanied with hot air breathing out, dehydration and blood taste coming from inside my stomach. All these came after I had antibiotics Augumentin (amoxillini) 1g for 4 days for treatment of ear infection. I weigh 53kgs. Please help to identify what may cause this uncomfortable feeling.
Every antibiotic can affect digestive system. In our intestines there are natural bacteria which protect us from bad bacteria and are extremely important for proper bowels function. Antibiotic kills this good bacteria and allows bad bacteria to grow. Antibiotic could also irritate your stomach, cause an inflammation of it or trigger persisting stomach issue (like peptic ulcer).
I suggest you to have some diagnostics. Please visit your doctor, have abdominal ultrasound, blood work, stool tests and gastroscopy done.
In a meanwhile avoid fatty foods, spicy foods, alcohol, coffee, soft drinks. Do not eat before sleeping (last meal should be 2 hours before sleeping).
Hope this will help. Regards.
