Heavy Pain Deep Inside Left Shoulder Blade. Had Surgery Due To Dissecting Aortic Annerisym, On Medication. Anything To Worry?
I have a dull heavy pain deep inside my left shoulder blade. Its been there since yesterday. I have to take shallow breaths at times due to pain. I have had surgery due to a dissecting aortic annerisym May 2008. I am still on a regime of medication including betalocs & asperin. This shoulder pain - should I be concerned or will its go away?????
If your shoulder girdle pain has developed after an unaccustomed physical activity, it indicates strain either in the muscles or ligaments.
If it has developed spontaneously, then it could be due to * Pathology in the Cervical spine like disc disease, infections, spondylosis etc * Irritation of phrenic nerve which supplies the diaphragm (referred pain will be present in the shoulder area) * Even the referred pain arising out of aortic dissection will be felt in the shoulder girdle and interscapular region
I suggest you to consult your treating doctor and get an evaluation done to rule out any serious issues.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
