Heavy Periods After Childbirth. Ultrasound Shows Thick Lining. Should I Be Worried?

I am almost 46 years old female who has had 4 children, the latest being a c-section at 42 years old. I now have extremely heavy periods which last either a full 7 -8 days. I just had a pelvic ultrasound and was told I have an extra thick lining and have been referred to a obygynecologist. Should I be worried? What does it mean?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

Increased endometrial thickness can occur due to many causes.
Among them hormonal imbalance is most common cause.
After consulting gynecologist, with her advice you once go for endometrial biopsy.
If the report is normal, you can go for hormonal pills. Which will help in regularizing the cycles.
After discussing these options with your doctor you can proceed further.
