Hello! I'm a 17 years old girl and my height is 5'3" which depresses me. I had an xray( left hand) done and i don't know what does it mean ,so i have some questions: Are my growth plates all fused? if not: when they will be? can i grow taller? and how many cm? Thank you in advance :)) WWW.WWWW.WW
Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
Ones height is determined by the height of ones parents and family. It is mostly determined by your genes and some extent to your environment.
Its difficult to comment on the x-ray unless you see one but capacity for further growth cannot be judged on an x-ray.
At age 17 there is still scope of gaining height until you are 19-21. You may or may not grow by 4-5 cms more but as I said it all depends on your genes.
The only thing you can do is regular exercise, eat healthy, sleep well and not to take excess stress.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
