Hemotoma, Inflammation And Limited Knee Straightening At The Site Where Tendon Popped During Crouching?

Hello! My name is Michael, and I am a very healthy 23 year old male, just not that long ago today, I had popped a tendon between the side and back end of my left knee after coming up from a crouching position. Not wanting to alarm myself I continued my daily activities. As I look at where the pain is coming from, I notice a slight hemotoma at the injury sight (looks purple), some inflammation, and limitation in the ability to straighten my knee. Is this anything to worry about?

- also experiencing trace amounts of numbness in my foot resulting from the injury.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

It seems to be injury to ligament.Haematoma is collection of blood due to rupture of microvasculature at the site of injury.
I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray/MRI of the area affected under his/her guidance.Beside icing and elevating it, you can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid putting weight and rest well.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
