High Blood Pressure. Taking Amlopres AT 25, Taking One Whole Tablet Makes BP Below Normal. Side Effects Of Medication?

Dear Doctor, I have been advised to take one tablet of Amlopres AT 25 daily to keep control of my blood pressure . I am taking this medicine daily sometimes half a tablet and sometiimes one tablet. Now it is under control. My pressure is 150/ 95 earlier; after taking this medicine, it is under control. When I take half a tablet, it becomes 130/85. If I continue to take one tablet, it becomes 110/70. What are the side effects of this medicine after the long usage of the same.

Your tablet contains 2 drugs-Amlodepine and Aternolol. There can be problem of ankle edema seen in few people because of amlodepine. Otherwise it is a fantastic drug with no contraindications. Atenolol may produce easy fatiguability, asthma (only if you are prone for it, otherwise not) and mild lipid derangements. Instead of taking the combination, you can just take Amlodepine and use this combination only if your BP is not controlled with single medication

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Every medication is associated with potential side effects, some persons experience none and others all , of the side effects. Amlopres is generally well tolerated but some of the possible side effects are headache, swelling of the ankles, flushing, dizziness , nausea and fatigue. The swelling is the most common problem.

There are higher risks associated with untreated blood pressure than with the use of your medication. The closer to normal your blood pressure, the less the possible complications of hypertension.

I hope this helps
